  • Great job guys! Your programming team does a great job of getting those updates out, and this release looks really big at first glance.

  • It still, after all these versions, does not include a discernible easy path, for a non-programmer - to make a simple invoice that includes notes describing what you did in detail, and how much time it took, and then put that in an invoice. How hard can they make that? A continual disappointment.

  • @ Frank:

You can use the visual template editor, which was introduced in Studiometry 4.0, to do all of that. The new version even includes the new data rows feature to allow for detailed notes.

To make this invoice template you drag the variables to where you'd like and they appear there on the invoice. It's a WYSIWG editor which is as easy as it can get on a computer.

You can also just use the built in "Detailed Description Invoice Template" to have all of this in a built in template.

    Kind Regards,

  • hey frank... you'd have to be pretty dense to not be able to make a template like that with Studiometry. heck, the built in templates even do what you're saying. I'm a photographer, which is far from being a programmer, and I have absolutely no problem making those things happen with Studiometry. Just another case of people complaining on the internet without thinking first.

PS. Thanks Oranged.net for the update it's working great here, the new interface is slick.

  • Thanks for another great update!

Data Rows for visual templates are awesome. So is the new "estimated" category of work items.

I've noticed when I made an hourly discount item it showed the total amount of hours both work and the discount. Is that something easy to fix? Maybe a an option for an item not to be counted towards total amount of hours?

  • @ Igor:

Glad you like the new Data Rows, we're pretty excited about them as well. They give you way more control over the display of your items on an invoice when compared to the previous data columns (or any other program out there, for that matter).

Regarding the hourly discount item, where exactly did it show the totals you're speaking of?

  • @ Tom:

I have created an hourly credit category to easily discount hourly rate, so that the non-discounted amount would still be showing on the invoices/estimates. When I add it in "Work Items" in a project, the amount of hours for a discount is added to the total amount of hours worked on the bottom of the screen in the project summary. Maybe an option for a credit item that is an hourly to "Do not add to total amount of hours"?

Another great addition (if it's not already there and I just haven't found it yet) would be percentage discount associated directly with a work item - so if I had a 10 hours worked on an item, and I wanted to bring the price down for a client, I could apply a 5% discount only to those 10 hours.

  • This may not be the appropriate place to post this, so I apologize in advance.
I am a long time user and have been enjoying v.5's ability to network. My question is in regards to any improvements made to this feature in v.6 - is it possible to serve Studiometry from one's secure FTP or other secure online storage so that two business partners in different states can publish changes, etc. to the Studiometry database?
If so, can someone point me to a tutorial explaining how to accomplish this / or a similar solution.
    Thank you!
Tom & Co. - Keep up the great work! Studiometry has grown up quite nicely!
