Studiometry 4.1.6 and 5.0 Issues on G4/G5 Macs

Some users have been reporting issues with random crashes occurring in the 4.1.6 update and the beta versions of Studiometry 5.0. These issues are due to problems in a plug-in used to make Studiometry, as well as the program used to build Studiometry. We are working on fixing these issues for the users who have been having the problem, but we do have a work around for now.

The information regarding the crashes and the simple fix is available here:
http://support.oranged.net/index.php?pid=knowledgebase#display_entry,true,67

We are working with the makers of the plug-in to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Please feel free to reply to this post with your comments regarding the issue and the temporary work around.

  • Further developments. We are fairly certain we've narrowed down what exactly is causing the issue. We've rebuilt Studiometry and uploaded a temporary fix for any users that are encountering crashes. This fix will disabled the status item until this issue has been resolved, as it is interfering with Studiometry's memory and causing random crashes.

If you've downloaded Studiometry 5.0 before 9:20 AM CST and you are having issues, please re-download. You can see whether or not you have the newest download by checking the Changes.rtf file, as it will contain a note regarding the status item at the top if you have the correct version.

  • My Studiometry is working much better now with the updated download, thank you. When will the menu item be functioning again?

  • @ Jaimie - The issue only occurs on certain machines with certain options turned on. If you're not having any crashes you don't need to download the update.

@ Anonymous - We're currently working on this and hope to have a fix available within the next day or so that re-enables the status item. We're sorry for any inconvenience.

  • I have made all what you suggest to avoid crashing the Studiometry 4.1.6. Nothing helps. It will take approx 10 seconds from launching to the crash. Every time i'll try. What to do?

  • If you are having crashes with 4.1.6, you should go back to 4.1.5, available here:
